hôm — pronounced "home" — is named in homage to my mae mae.

In the 1970s, when my papa was drafted into the Vietnam War, she gathered my mom and three uncles and fled on foot from Laos to Thailand to a refugee camp, not knowing when or whether they would ever have a home again. Years later, they were sponsored by a small church in a North Carolina town of fewer than 500 people, and arrived in the United States with only each other. She could make something out of nothing. She was brave, resilient, and fierce — and with her, I always knew I was safe. I could exhale. hôm is my way of honoring her legacy — intentionally curating storied pieces with one life behind them and hope for the next one they will live.

Hey y'all, I'm Tini. I'm originally from Mount Olive, North Carolina, and Los Angeles has been my home for quite some time now. I have a background in fashion and education, and a love for spatial design and discovering vintage treasures. 

My path here was not a straight line — I moved to LA to attend FIDM, then went back to school to become a teacher, spending ten years in education, five of them in the classroom. Above all, I wanted my students to feel safe and cared for, so with the help of facebook marketplace and generous donations from friends and family, our classroom was transformed into a home away from home. 

My journey into vintage started back in 2019, alongside my husband at an estate sale and the green velvet chair I'd later look back on as "the one that started it all." Eventually, when I made the difficult decision to step away from teaching in 2023, that part-time hobby became hôm, full-time.

Statement pieces with real presence — the kind people notice, and ask about — are what I gravitate toward. Think '70s Italian, space age, and European influence: chrome, warm woods, and earth tone palettes, with an emphasis on raw, natural materials. 

Spaces should make you feel something — welcomed in without a word, the way my mae mae always did, even across languages. That's the feeling I hope to create — spaces that are as functional as they are intentional, that make you happier the moment you walk in, and that you can't wait to come back to. I believe how we feel in our environment shapes how we live, and I want to help others thoughtfully and sustainably curate spaces where they can exhale and feel joy. That's what hôm is here to do — one piece, one space at a time.
